What was once Downtown’s industrial and rail district is now one of the most densely populated residential neighborhoods in Memphis. Over 2,000 units are under development in the South End, and the current population is expected to double over the next two to three years, according to the Downtown Memphis Commission.
Real estate stalwarts like Henry Turley Co. and Southland Development Partners helped usher in the area’s transformation and bring more than 3,000 apartments and condos to the area.
A new company, Hamilton & Holliman, is looking to kick the area’s changing reputation into high gear. Brock Holliman, 23, and Dustin Hamilton, 36, founded their homebuilding company two years ago. They got their start in the South End when they purchased nine undeveloped lots as part of the St. Charles Quarters subdivision.
