The Discovery Center Museum is an interactive children’s museum, located in the downtown district of Knoxville, Tennessee. The center houses educational exhibits, recreational areas, summer camp facilities, and a state-of-the-art planetarium. The program will be inserted into an existing early 1980s pavilion structure. A fragmented, undulating screen wall, which is hung from the long glass façade, serves as a screen for the harsh western sun, as well as a playful and memorable icon for this highly visible museum. The creative intervention masking the existing structure makes it both iconic but still functional.
