Memphis Botanic Garden - Encore Pavilion
A flexible space within the larger Live at the Garden at the Memphis Botanic Garden used for meetings and celebrations.
The building form and siting are designed to defer to the surrounding landscape. The building is tucked into the edge of an existing woodland area, creating a courtyard garden along the length of the building. An entrance breezeway connects a volume with catering kitchen and restrooms to another volume containing the large event space. The mostly solid volume is glazed at one end, framing a view of the beautiful woodland and wetland landscape.

The multi-purpose event center is part of the greater outdoor performing arts venue into an 11-acre site within the 96-acre Memphis Botanic Garden with its 30 specialty gardens and Level 4 Arboretum.
The master plan was inspired by the concept of a large-scale garden room, the “live” garden, that enhances the experience of the annual “Live at the Garden” concert series in addition to year-round performances that are held across the arts “campus”. Each provide a unique garden experience dedicated to family picnics, unstructured activities, and performance-related activities in all seasons. The “campus” also provides important satellite spaces for school groups, organizations, community companies, and professional companies throughout the arts including theatre, opera, acoustical / amplified / choral music, dance, symphony, and film.
