Cultivating Arkansas’ veterinary future through state-of-the-art labs and design precedent, ASU’s new 56,870 sf College of Veterinary Medicine represents a transformative investment in the state’s future.
A-State CofVM is the first public veterinary school in Arkansas and designed to meet a critical need for local veterinarians. Housing state-of-the-art teaching labs and 24/7 clinical practice areas, the building encourages immersive learning from day one. The design supports a team-based, case-driven pedagogical model and fosters collaboration between students and faculty. Transparency and daylighting are foundational to the building’s experience.

At floor level, a continuous band of 9-foot-8-inch glass in varied opacities floods interior labs and classrooms with natural light while offering views across the campus. Located on the southeast corner of the Jonesboro campus, the CofVM sits adjacent to the Biosciences Institute and research farm, reinforcing programmatic and physical connections to the university’s agricultural and biomedical research programs. The project includes: specialized labs, highly technical infrastructure, adaptable education spaces for changing programs and growth. The project was delivered under budget through comprehensive stakeholder engagement within a critical project delivery timeline. Forward thinking design strategies included industry partnerships, experiential learning, and collaboration.
