J Humphries brings his architectural experience throughout the south, and achievements as an artist and production designer to the firm’s creative process. His work reflects a profound interest in contextual design that engages a site’s history and encourages sustainable future narratives and trajectories. His previous experience in coaching and hospitality is paramount to the firm's success in project management and client relations. J has worked on a large variety of project types, including adaptive reuse, performance, educational, commercial, healthcare, residential, retail, and hospitality.

A graduate of the School of Architecture at Mississippi State University, J furthered his studies of contemporary architecture and design in the Netherlands. Drawing upon hand sketching in his process, he brings solutions at every scale through visual thought and investigation. He explores the possibility of a more flexible, resilient, built environment within this fluid medium. His illustrations have been exhibited across the Gulf States region. He believes design should be accessible and approachable for all. J supports this mindset with outreach, committee work, and archimania’s philanthropic partnerships.

He participates in the City of Memphis’s consultant committee to update Memphis’s Unified Development Code, serves on archimania’s Community Reinvestment Grant and DEI committees, is a New Memphis Embark Leadership Program alumni, is a member of the ULI young leader’s group, is a guest juror for the University of Memphis Architecture Department, is a selection committee member at the Urban Arts Council for various projects, and is an Eagle Scout.
