Morrison Street Apartments

This project fills a gap in the urban fabric of the lively Overton Square entertainment district and adds much needed density to the core of midtown Memphis.

The 11-unit apartment building maximizes the streetscape frontage by pushing all parking to the rear of the property. The driveway access cuts through the middle of the building with residential units bridging above, allowing the project to occupy the full width of its parcel.

The materials used in the project pull from the historic context by using a classic red brick reimagined with modern detailing that emphasizes texture and scale.

Each unit on the upper floors features an exterior balcony screened by a delicate brick latticework. The ground floor units seek to engage with the streetscape while balancing the privacy of the tenants through courtyards defined by a low brick wall that extends to the street.

A landscape zone filled with dense planting of native grasses and trees further blurs the line between the property and the public realm.
