The client wanted to offer his customers an experience that was unique. The resulting design creates a space that is clean, crisp, and one which serves Mercedes clients with the comfort and quality they expect.

The needed improvements to existing interior spaces introduced a new service reception, parts boutique, customer lounge, and café. A new service drive lane building is clad externally in materials matching the existing dealership. A cantilevered canopy of 1/4” powder-coated aluminum subtly distinguishes the additions and marks the vehicular entrances. Internally, service lanes are separated from service advisor offices by a pedestrian circulation zone, marked by aluminum floor grating and a linear clerestory above. The sunlight penetrating the clerestory stands in stark contrast to the black ceiling of the service lanes and further defines the separation of drive lane and office. The polished concrete slab gives way to tile flooring in the offices, which coupled with a lower drywall ceiling, continues through a pair of glass doors and into the existing building housing the service reception and parts boutique. The transparency of the glass and linear arrangement of the service reception and parts boutique allow direct access between the service lanes and administrative spaces. Behind the service reception is a café serving short-term clients, while a more formal customer lounge is located on the northwestern corner of the existing building to serve clients requiring a longer wait.
