Renovation of an existing office interior to increase open space, support collaborative culture, and bring in natural light along with textured materials.

The client - a non-profit organization that helps children with emotional, mental, and behavioral challenges - was ready to update the interior architecture of the building they had been operating within to give their associates a better working environment. The result is a more open office space with views to the exterior throughout the entire area. Solid walls at the offices along the exterior walls were replaced with glazing to allow natural light to flood the interior spaces. A gradient film was used on the interior glass at offices and meeting rooms to allow privacy at eye level while still allowing for natural light and views to the outside. Artwork and collaboration spaces emphasize the inner open office. On both sides of the lobby are lounge workspaces for remote caseworkers and visitors to land while waiting for meetings. Textured cork wallcovering gives the circulation spaces a warm, tactile background that helps articulate layers. Strategic design decisions were made to provide the greatest impact within the non-profit’s very modest budget.
