The Ford BlueOval City Campus TCAT brings a cutting-edge 120,000 sf workforce development and training facility of the future to Tennessee while supporting Ford Motor Company’s commitment to environmental stewardship.

The workforce program was originally a partnership between the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (the Tennessee Board of Regents premier state technical institution), Ford Motor Company, and SKON (South Korea Battery) offering customized training to feed into employment opportunities at BlueOval City. As these partnerships have evolved the facility design continues to allow the utmost flexibility in educational programming, scheduling, and operational needs. Training has included electric vehicle and battery manufacturing and repair, with a curricula concentrating on mechatronics engineering and electric vehicle auto-mechanics. Current and future training includes natural gas and traditional propulsion system maintenance and repair.

  • TCAT BlueOval City is home to a cutting-edge 120,000 sf educational campus dedicated to training and certifying individuals in advanced technology skill sets tailored for the FORD electric vehicle manufacturing plant as well as the growing electric industry within the West TN Megasite and the region. Strategically located at the West TN Megasite, this state-of-the-art facility is designed to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in sustainable automotive technologies. Featuring specialized labs, collaborative learning spaces, and industry-aligned curriculum, the campus prepares students for rewarding careers at the forefront of automotive innovation in a beautiful and functional space. Although the site provided by the owner lacked all utilities, the design team incorporated high-performance, all electric design and creative construction means to work via temporary power and water and still achieved a project that was under budget and faster than originally.

The TCAT BlueOval City is a 5 billion development to manufacture electric vehicles, and includes both vertically integrated manufacture facility, battery production and support facilities. The TCAT Campus is connective infrastructure between the community and the jobs working for both Ford and SK Innovation companies – a joint venture between global companies working in West Tennessee. The College is designed to lower barriers to career success by providing adaptable and flexible learning spaces that can change as innovations are developed via Ford and SK.

We worked with the TBR system, TCAT administration, the State of Tennessee and Global Corporate partners to ensure alignment between spaces and learning objectives create successful outcomes as the rest of BlueOval City comes online.
