Girls Inc. of Memphis Youth Farm Planning and Design

The Youth Farm is a thriving hub for youth development, community engagement, and sustainable agriculture and reflects decades of dedication to creating opportunities for girls to grow, lead, and make a difference in their communities.

Planning goals sought to expand programming on the existing 9.5 acre farm, which previously utilized two shipping containers for storage. The project incorporates new administration and programming spaces, farmstand, community garden, and an outdoor stage - all to engage the community and surrounding neighborhood with a valuable resource for healthy food, education and a place to gather for the surrounding neighborhood. Crop production was expanded from 2 acres to 6 acres allowing for more opportunities to grow fresh produce and strengthen connections to the land. archimania’s third project and site for the client, the Youth Farm serves as a space where girls can cultivate leadership skills, learn about sustainable farming, and connect with their community.
